New TV series.... (tick)

I did it! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you....I can hear your rounds of applause as I type this out.
I've found a new TV series for you all to love!
Being Human is a UK series about a werewolf, a vampire and a ghost. Yeah, yeah, you're all saying, so what?!?!

It has a storyline, an amazingly in depth, human storyline. Its fun, strangely believable, sometimes scary and always funny. I give it a + ten on True Blood and as an added bonus it’s not R18+.

Just give it a go! Season one and two are now available at the library, with season three on the way.
I personally promise that its worth the 900 odd minutes it will take to watch the 15 episodes I have.

Plextalk machines are now for Loan

Griffith City Library in conjunction with Vision Australia have now made it possible for our library to loan out the plextalk machines. These machines are a audio device used to play the "hear a books" that are available in the library. The other great feature of this audio device is that it already has 5 different titles saved to the hard drive. What does this mean to me ? It means that you just push play and away the machine goes. No more feeding in of discs and no more scratched discs.
Come in and let us give you a demonstration on the use of the plextalk.

Read Me A Story...

Got a long drive coming up? A basket of ironing that is growing by the day?  Faced with hours of tedious tasks that are taking you away from the book that you want to finish? Well I may have a solution for you. At the library we have just acquired a range of new audio books in a variety of genres that are guaranteed to be great hands-free literary diversions. So, the ironing is done (and your domestic goddess status secured..) and the trip tp Sydney has become a mere drive around the block. Great way to pass the time don't you think? Come into the library, borrow one and give it a go!

Cakes, cakes and more cakes

I have a new addiction!
Some time ago I posted about my addiction to home renovation shows and house magazines and could tell you all about what was happening on "The Block", well I have now discovered another TV series and, you guessed it, I'm hooked.

I discovered "Cake Boss" over the long weekend while I was channel surfing, looking for something decent to watch. For those of you aren't familiar with this new phenomenon, Cake Boss is a reality TV show featuring celebrity baker Buddy Valastro and his family bakery in New Jersey. The cakes that come out of this bakery are AMAZING, from life size cars, hockey tables and even the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Buddy is a genius!!!! And so now all I can think about is eating cake, making cake and watching "Cake Boss".

If you'd like to see what all the fuss is about, Cake Boss season 1 is now available for loan at the library (you might have to fight me for it!) as well as a huge range of fabulous cake making and decorating books that can help you create your own masterpieces.
Cake Boss is also online, check out http://www.carlosbakery.com/

Buon Appetito!!!

Stay in bed morning.....

Ok, we've all wished we could do it... 7am Tuesday morning, the winds blowing, the rain's on the roof and there's 80 pages left to read of a book (well deserving of my attention) that has graced my bedside table for over a month... so here is the dilemma. Do I succumb to the temptation of a guaranteed 6 hours straight of uninterrupted reading time or do I get up and go to work? My work ethic gets the better of me and here I am at my desk ready to face a day surrounded by books. Not a bad compromise I say. And I have brought along a lunch date...my book and its 80 unread pages.... it's gonna be a good day :)

WTF?????
To all of you have not yet discovered the What the fact collection, here is one to have a look at:

From 1893 - 1939 The Farmer's Wife, a monthly magazine was published in the U.S. The book is a collection of recipes and anecdotes from the era. A time when men were the bread winners. And a woman's place was in the home, the kitchen was her workshop. She was the dutiful wife preparing wholesome meals for her brood....." the farm wife owes it to her family ......to have time to devote to the side of life that brings joy to the family circle"
Some recipes include: mammy's cornbread and milk hoecake.

Well I best be getting my apron on and put some lippy on, before my hubby gets home for dinner!!
The book is the one with Bel and Bonnie on the cover.

Happy home making

The Villa Girls

OK .. I may have been found out!!! It seems to be no secret that I may have a slight preference for romantic, travel, foodie, type novels. Oh yes and of course they seem to take place in fabulous Italy. I mean where else do you have a holiday fling with a gorgeous, mysterious, rich, Italian. Only to find that years later you both still have feelings for eachother? Only you have been stuffing those feelings, down with; rich, tiramisu, and creamy risotto, before knocking back a robust red!!

Sounds like a novel really!!
So,enter Amanda who kindly hands me Nicky Pellegrino's "The Villa Girls".  As she states " Rose I thought you might like this one"
So there you have it. I am a Genre addict!! So if I have hit a nerve for some of you readers, do have a read of "The Villa Girls" - you won't be dissappointed
